Nancy Morgan
Nancy Morgan started teaching dance at the age of 14. Her tap teacher, Charles Griffiths, asked her to teach his adult class. This began a very long love for teaching dance.
At 16, the local community center asked her to teach their small fitness class. She designed a full hour of popular Dancercize and six adult women showed up. The next week, the class had close to 40 women and the class just kept growing.
In the early 1980s, Nancy started dancing at Les Ballet Jazz du Montreal. She continued to teach for various dance studios throughout Montreal. In 1985, Nancy auditioned and was accepted in the Canada’s National Tap Dance Company.
Her love for teaching continued when she co-founded a performance Tap Company called Tapotage with her dance partner, Benny Draier. Nancy and Benny had 12 dancers performing all over Quebec and Ontario. They kept teaching and choreographing together for decades.
Fast-forward through marriage and children, it was time for Nancy to open her own dance studio in tiny, rural Kemptville. She named it The Workshop Dance Studio after her Dad’s love for woodworking. The thrill of returning to teaching dance started in March 2015.
Nancy Morgan is the owner and creative director of The Workshop Dance Studio. Currently, she is teaching all the Tap Classes, Line Dancing Classes, plus the Community Classes.
