Thank you, you gorgeous people.
Since the (almost) surprise 10th anniversary party, I’ve been looking back on how I got here—and whether it’s really been ten years. It has. And while none of it happened by accident, I truly can’t express how incredible it’s been to have you along for the ride.
Most of you know I started teaching in my teens, and even then, I knew it would always be part of my life. Honestly, the stuffy dance studios of yesteryear probably stunted my mental growth. And when it became obvious, I didn’t have any other employable skills, I decided to double down on teaching dance, but specializing on teaching adults.
Eventually, life brought me to a point where I wanted to open my own studio in March 2015. My space would be where I could share the joy of dance with others like me, similar in age and in my own way.
And here we are in 2025. Somehow, these past ten years have felt like a long, beautiful dream.
To my dedicated teachers:
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside some truly talented and generous instructors. Whether they led a single workshop or stayed for the long haul, each brought their own unique spark to the studio. I’ve been incredibly lucky to work with teachers who not only shared their skills, but helped shape this space into the vibrant, welcoming place it is today. I’m deeply grateful for their time, energy, and dedication.
To the party organizers:
I am humbled that you created such an amazing celebration and brought so many people together. The Boathouse Café was a lovely location, and the food was a treat. The gluten free cakes were delicious and the flower arrangement, table decorations and balloons enhanced the joyful party atmosphere! The speeches and songs were beautiful. And the message boards will live in the studio for my continued reflection.
To the party attendees:
I heard from so many of you that the studio means something to you and made a difference in your life. My heart rate was well past the safe zone, but I managed to hold back the tears so that I could live in the moment. All your warm hugs will last me a long time.
Reflecting on the past week since the party, I’ve come to better understand that my tiny little studio in rural Ontario has quietly absorbed years of laughter, sweat, and transformation. What you’ve allowed me to build is so much more than a business—it’s a quiet, steady rhythm that continues to breath throughout Kemptville.
To those at the studio:
There’s really no way to properly thank everyone who’s come through the doors over the past 10 years. Even those who just popped in for a short time, I’m so glad I got to meet you.
To my family:
Thank you for riding the entrepreneurial waves with me. Through the long days, a global pandemic, financial stress, tech troubles, and the ever-present weight of running a small business—you stood by me. I couldn’t have done this without your patience, encouragement, and quiet, loving support.
Thank you, you gorgeous people.
Without all of you, I’d probably still be stuck in a stuffy studio somewhere else in the world questioning my life choices.
Thank you for showing up.
Thank you for dancing.
Thank you for working out.
Thank you for being part of this little studio community.
Thank you for everything.
